How do I find a book on the shelf?

To find a book within the Library you will need the book's unique classmark (also called a shelfmark).  If you have not already found the classmark, search the Library catalogue.

The library uses a classification system called the Dewey Decimal system - each subject is given a number/classmark sometimes called the shelfmark. Material is arranged on the shelves in numerical order.

A book will have a label on its spine with the relevant classmark.

The catalogue will indicate this number to show where a book is located in the library.
